Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo return as Alvaro Fernandez and Shola Shoretire also star in Manchester United training

Manchester United have a welcome injury boost ahead of this weekend’s fixture with Arsenal.

On a sunny day at Carrington, Raphael Varane was pictured in training after missing matches against Norwich City and Liverpool.

The Frenchman will be in contention to start against the Gunners in Saturday’s game at The Emirates.

Scott McTominay was also pictured training too, after making the bench against Liverpool despite having no training sessions beforehand, amid his own battle with injury.

Crucially, top goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo was also training after missing the Liverpool game due to personal tragedy.

Young stars involved too

As seen above, teenager Hannibal Mejbri was involved in the session after making his first appearance of the season against Liverpool.

He was not the only one, with Argentine international Alejandro Garnacho also featuring.

Spanish left-back Alvaro Fernandez featured too, as United push for extra cover due to Luke Shaw being ruled out with injury.

Shola Shoretire was also pictured in training, amid his own impressive campaign for the under-23s. Shoretire has 11 assists at youth level this season while left-back Fernandez has eight of his own.

All four players have a chance to be involved with the travelling squad this coming weekend for a crucial fixture.

Notably, Paul Pogba was not involved in the session. He went off injured against Liverpool after just 10 minutes with a calf injury and he is expected to miss the Arsenal game.

Fred and Edinson Cavani were both also not pictured, and are not likely to feature this weekend.
