Paul Scholes is starting to make U-turn on Man United star after he did something ‘magnificent’ vs Fenerbahce

Andre Onana made a wonderful double save as Manchester United drew with Fenerbahce in the Europa League.

The Red Devils are winless but also unbeaten in Europe after drawing 1-1 with Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for Manchester United after a well-worked counter-attack but the woeful defensive record in Europe continued with Fenerbahce equalising through Youssef En-Nesyri just minutes into the second half.

With three points from their three matches so far, United remain 21st in the Europa League table.

Frankly, things could have been even worse for United had it not been for Andre Onana‘s double save in the first half.

Andre Onana makes ‘magnificent’ double save

Just minutes before the half-time break, Onana defended United’s one-goal lead with two show-stopping saves in quick succession.

He denied Youssef En-Nesyri twice from close range, much to the disbelief of Mourinho.

It was not only Mourinho who was stunned by Onana’s double save, with TNT Sports co-commentator Robbie Savage hailing it as “magnificent”.

“Wow. We saw the double save in the Champions League from David Raya, but Onana here – I think that’s better,” said Savage.

“The reactions there. This one is brilliant, but then to get up and at short notice that is a brilliant save. Magnificent. Jose can’t believe it.”

This is not the first time United’s £44m goalkeeper has dazzled this season, in fact, Onana has been United’s MVP this season.

Onana made an ‘exceptional’ double save against Crystal Palace earlier this season, which ended up being nominated for the Premier League Save of the Month in September.

Paul Scholes was critical of Onana before the season started, with the United legend claiming “I worry to death about him”.

However, Paul Scholes is starting to make a U-turn and was full of praise for Onana’s shot-stopping against Fenerbahce.

Via TNT Sports, Scholes said: “There have been some fantastic saves from the goalkeeper.

“But you do feel as though United have been slightly fortunate. They do have their own threats of course they do, but Fenerbahce have been the better team.

“They’ve looked like scoring, they haven’t quite done that because of the goalkeeper. It was a great header to start with and the second header is a brilliant save.”
