Micah Richards highlights one thing only Kobbie Mainoo did against Luton which puts Casemiro to shame

Manchester United emerged victorious against Luton Town in the Premier League.

There were some excellent performances on the day. Rasmus Hojlund obviously stole the show with his two goals, Raphael Varane was criminally underrated and Kobbie Mainoo once again oozed class.

The latter in Mainoo is slowly becoming one of Manchester United‘s most important players – which is simply ludicrous for an 18-year-old.

Pundits piled on the praise for the Stockport wonderkid once again.

Speaking immediately after the game on the The Rest Is Football podcast, Micah Richards sat down with Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer to discuss Mainoo.

Lineker first brought up the Manchester United starlet. “I mentioned Mainoo. I really like him,” he begins. “This young man, every time I see him I think he’s so impressive, so mature in his performances.”

Richards was quick to agree and identified one thing he did that no other Manchester United player seemed to be able to do against the Hatters.

“It’s just like his composure. You know today when the game was getting a bit frantic, he was the only one really able to get his foot on the ball and remain calm in possession,” the former Manchester City man responded.

Kobbie Mainoo put Casemiro to shame

Fans were seriously quick to notice this as well. This should be what Casemiro is doing for the Red Devils, and teaching Mainoo, not the other way around.

Instead, the erratic Brazilian was very nearly sent off and had to be substituted at halftime. Had he received a second yellow, the game could’ve descended into an absolute disaster for United.

At nearly 32 years old, Casemiro really needs to take a step back and reassess his game. Yes, keep that tough-tackling, enthusiastic nature, but at the same time know what your role should be in the squad.

As our most experienced winner, to be subbed off at half-time due to carelessness in a tackle is just not good enough. This needs to be rectified, as when on the pitch, Casemiro provides invaluable assets for the Red Devils.
