Find out who Manchester United will face in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals after defeating Leicester City 5-2 on Wednesday.
Manchester United are into the final eight of the Carabao Cup after Ruud van Nistelrooy guided the side to a comfortable victory over Leicester City in his first game in charge.
Erik ten Hag will be wondering where this clinical United side were all season as they stormed into a 4-2 lead at the break.
Casemiro opened the scoring with a 30-yard stunner before Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes got on the score sheet. The Brazilian then grabbed a second.
The Foxes threatened to make a late comeback but Fernandes’ second ended those hopes and United will now find out their next opponents in the competition in the quarter-final draw.

[Link]Full-time: United 5-2 Leicester City
United are into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after Fernandes’ second-half goal put an end to a possible Leicester comeback.

84′ 5-2 – Wheatley on
Wheatley replaces Zirkzee, who’s had a tough evening with not much falling his way in front fo goal.
[Link]81′ 5-2 – Good stuff from United
United are knocking the ball around nicely and searching for more goals. Casemiro lofts a lovely ball over the top for Fernandes to meet on the volley but he can’t keep it down.
[Link]73′ 5-2 – Amad is everywhere
Amad has had yet another shot on goal, this time it’s a tame one from distance but he’s been involved in everything since coming on.
[Link]70′ 5-2 – Amad hits the side netting
Amad sneaks in behind and takes on another shot from a tight angle but this time he finds the sidenetting. Leicester bring on Vestergaard, Alves, Mavididi and Buonanotte.
United have brought on Hojlund and Evans for Garnacho and De Ligt.
[Link]67′ 5-2 – Another Amad chance
At the other end, Amad plucks the ball out of the air wonderfully before ghosting past a challenge and forcing Ward into an awkward save from a tight angle. The winger has had a positive impact since coming on.
[Link]66′ 5-2 – Leicester hit the bar!
Bayindir tips a rasping Soumare effort onto the crossbar. There’s still life in the Foxes yet.
[Link]64′ 5-2 – Nearly an incredible Amad goal
The ball pings around the box before it loops towards Amad who flings himself at it with an acrobatic overhead kick that flies just wide of the post. That would have been special.
[Link]61′ 5-2 – Double United change
Van Nistelrooy must feel comfortable with the lead as he’s making his first changes. Amad and Mazraoui are on for Rashford and Martinez.
[Link]58′ 5-2 – GOAAAAAL! Fernandes!
Fernandes has two! He latches onto a poor back pass, rounds the goalkeeper and smashes it home.
[Link]57′ 4-2 – Zirkzee stings Ward’s palms
Zirkzee is picked up on the edge of the box, he takes a good touch to set himself but his shot is straight at the goalkeeper.
[Link]53′ 4-2 – More Leicester pressure
Leicester are finding joy down the flanks, especially down Martinez’s left side, and Casemiro is forced into cleary a threatening cross into the box. You feel United can’t afford to concede here.
[Link]50′ 4-2 – Bright Leicester start
Buoyed by their goal just before the break, Leicester are trying to take the game to Utd in the early stages and have gotten into the box a couple of times without creating any clear-cut chances. They’re the stronger team so far, though.
[Link]HT: United 4-2 Leicester
An entertaining and galvanising half comes to an end. United started poorly but once Casemiro’s spectacular opener flew in the floodgates opened and they ripped Leicester to shreds.
Garnacho, Fernandes and another Casemiro goal saw them go 4-1 up but there has been some slack defending, with Coady pulling one back just before the break.
[Link]45′ 4-2 – Goal. Leicester score again
United don’t defend another set piece well as Casemiro and Dalot don’t clear and it drops for Conor Coady to tap in. The second half might be interesting.
[Link]45′ 4-1 – Rare chance for Leicester
McAteer has a shot on goal but it’s tame. Four minutes added.
[Link]42′ 4-1 – Nearly a hat-trick for Casemiro
The Brazilian heads just wide of the post! He wants his hat-trick! Garnacho also shoots just over the bar after a great move with Fernandes.
[Link]39′ 4-1 GOAAAL Casemiro!
It’s four! Casemiro has a second as he fires into the roof of the net when the ball drops to him in the area.
A penny for Erik ten Hag’s thoughts, who saw his team miss chance after chance on Sunday.
[Link]36′ 3-1 – GOAAAAAL! Fernandes!
Fernandes takes the free-kick and it deflects off the head of Justin and into the net past the wrong-footed Ward! What a response!
[Link]34′ 2-1 – Good reaction
United go straight up the other end with Rashford running towards goal and seeing a shot from a tight angle saved. Garnacho has now won a free-kick in a dangerous position.
[Link]33′ 2-1 – Goal. Leicester have one back
Bayindir makes a hash of clearing a cross and the ball drops to El Khannouss who brilliantly hits the ball off both posts and in. The game’s back on.
[Link]30′ 2-0 – Fernandes wastes great chance
Leicester give the ball away to Fernandes in a dangerous position but instead of burying the chance he tries to offload the ball to a teammate and misplaced the pass. A confident Fernandes blasts that in.
[Link]27′ 2-0 – GOAAAAAAAAL! Garnacho!
Garnacho fires in the second!
Just what Dalot needed! After a poor start, he delivers a fantastic cross into the box that Garnacho smashes home.
[Link]25′ 1-0 – Not a great performance
The goal was great but this hasn’t been a good display, with Dalot and Zirkzee particularly poor.
The full-back has just played a Leicester attacker onside but was lucky the pass was overhit, likewise he got away with a lazy back pass earlier.
Zirkzee, meanwhile, hasn’t got anything right just yet.
[Link]20′ – 1-0 First booking
A soft yellow goes to Okoli after a coming together with Fernandes in which he grabbed his shirt.
[Link]15′ 1-0 – GOAAAAAL CASEMIRO!
What a goal!
Ruud loved that! Casemiro smashes one in off the crossbar from 30 yards out and the caretaker manager celebrates with glee.

10′ 0-0 – Good chance for Leicester
Martinez drifts inside and leaves loads of space which the Foxes exploit nicely but they can only fashion a chance from the edge of the box from Ayew, which Bayindir easily collects.
[Link]7′ 0-0 – Zirkzee squanders chance
It’s been an uneventful start so far. Zirkzee was just presented a great chance after a defensive slip gave him space towards goal but he turned into trouble instead of capitalising.
[Link]No injury for Onana
Onana isn’t involved in today’s game but he’s out doing the warm up beforehand.
United team
There’s no back-three from Van Nistelrooy to prepare for Amorim’s arrival but Zirkzee, Bayindir, Lindelof and Ugarte all get run-outs in a team that also contains Rashford, Fernandes and Garnacho.
The complete omission of Onana is the biggest story but hopefully, he has just been rested.
Fletcher, Wheatley and newcomer Fitzgerald will all be hoping for some game time off the bench.

Amorim latest: Deal done by Sunday
The latest reports suggest everyone wants the Amorim deal sealed by the end of the week.
