On a negative weekend for Manchester United, young talent Aidan Barlow might have provided the brightest spark.
The 18-year-old winger scored the winner for United’s under-23 side in a fixture against Norwich, a 1-0 victory.
Barlow’s strike came from open play after a clever pass from striker Joshua Bohui.

Why it mattered
This was Barlow’s first ever under-23 goal, in just his seventh appearance.
His record at under-18 level was outstanding.
He scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 33 games.
United challenged him by getting him to step up to under-23 level. His winner shows he has risen to the task.

Get excited
Barlow is a player who has been overshadowed by Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong yet is every bit as promising.
The England youth international was described by Goal earlier this summer as United’s ‘hidden gem’ and lauded his vision and intelligence.
Barlow said at the time he wanted to step up to the under-23 team and become a leader.
His goal at the weekend was a strong sign he is beginning to deliver on that promise, and further success beyond that beckons.
