Man of the match v Real Betis

Manchester United fans voted for the man of the match in a poll on the club website and app.

There was a convincing winner with more than half the vote, with match winner Marcus Rashford getting the award.

Rashford played only 59 minutes, substituted three minutes after scoring Manchester United’s winner.

It was enough to seal the tie, with the goal sapping the energy and hopes of the Real Betis crowd.

The first half was a tricky one and United rode their luck at times, with poor finishing and good goalkeeping from David de Gea ensuring United kept a clean sheet.

Rashford had looked a little off the pace until his goal, his 27th of the season. Erik ten Hag took him off afterwards, keen to preserve his fitness for the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham.
