Manchester United snatched victory from the jaws of defeat on Thursday evening, turning a 1-0 defeat into a 2-1 win against Viktoria Plzen.
After back-to-back defeats Thursday night’s trip to the Czech Republic had become a must-win for Ruben Amorim. Despite struggling throughout the first half, a second-half revival saved the Red Devils.
Manchester United were 1-0 behind until Rasmus Hojlund came in clutch, scoring two excellent centre-forward goals.
United ended up winning 2-1 on the night, and Amorim has his in-game decision-making to thank as his substitutions absolutely made a positive impact.
After such a rollercoaster of a game against Plzen, United fans as expected had plenty to say about the match after the game, with Hojlund a hot topic.

Rasmus Hojlund saves Ruben Amorim against Plzen
The past week saw United lose to both Arsenal and then Nottingham Forest, with the losses ultimately not mattering as Amorim gets his team up to speed, something which has become dangerous under Amorim.
Due to this, it was pivotal that winning ways were restored ahead of the Manchester Derby, and it was the young Dane who obliged as he scored both goals.
After being left on the bench, Hojlund emerged to score his fifth goal for Amorim – and fifth of the Europa League campaign which was more than any player at the time.
Such an impressive goalscoring record since Amorim arrived is a sign that the Danish international is finally fulfilling the potential we all know he has.
After the game, fans made one very clear point about United’s No.9 while also comparing him to a world-leading striker.
Manchester United fans impressed with Hojlund
Hojlund often catches flack for his poor performances, but when he is in front of goal with a chance he is becoming increasingly deadly, with fans noticing.
“Give the ball to Hojlund. And he scores. SIMPLE”, wrote one fan on X after Hojlund made it 2-1.
A second added: “You give Hojlund the tools and he WILL do the job.”
“There’s a player in Hojlund. It’s just whether he can fulfil it at the club. Will admit that it does make me happy when he scores”, added another.
While a fourth agreed: “Hojlund is why you just don’t give up on young players in a chaotic team.”
Due to his growing goal tally, fans also compared Hojlund with Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.
“Hojlund is our Gyorekes there I said it”, commented one fan.
While another agreed: “Ruben Amorim turning Hojlund into Gyokeres”.
Finally, one fan argued: “We won’t need Viktor Gyökeres if Hojlund continues like this. He’s already improving under Amorim, his confidence is high and if he can do it week in and out – he’d be unstoppable.”
