Man Utd player ratings vs Arsenal, two players get 8/10 as Toby Collyer shines

Manchester United and Arsenal faced off at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, here’s how every United player performed.

There’s no hiding that it was a bad evening for Manchester United, positive first-half performance aside there was little to be happy with.

This of course is in relation to the injuries sustained by both Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund.

In the game, Hojlund opened the scoring with a well-taken goal, but it wasn’t to be with Arsenal coming back to win 2-1.

United did win the post-match penalty shootout though which at least proves the squad are good in pressure moments, if there was any pressure to it.

Here are the player ratings for every United player.

Manchester United player ratings vs Arsenal

Manchester United faced Arsenal on Sunday morning, here are the player ratings.

Andre Onana – 7

The only player to play more than a half and Andre Onana did well to avoid Arsenal scoring more than two.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6

Hardly put a foot wrong, but didn’t quite do enough to earn anything above a 6.

Leny Yoro – 6

His first involvement was a nervy mistake which he then responded to well by making a shot-saving tackle. But ultimately his injury is the story of the match.

Harry Maguire – 6

Arsenal offered very little threat, but Harry Maguire dealt with what he had to while also helping Harry Amass with his assignments.

Harry Amass – 7

In his first start for United, Amass caught the eye with his excellent technical ability. He was at fault for the goal, but it shouldn’t have stood. Encouraging signs.

Casemiro – 6

Was the weakest link in the United midfield, but had a few moments defensively.

Toby Collyer – 8

The stock of Toby Collyer continues to rise as he dominated the midfield against Arsenal. One particularly excellent moment was when he picked the ball off Martin Odegaard flawlessly.

Amad Diallo – 6

Amad Diallo was not quite as good as he showed against Rangers and he should’ve scored.

Mason Mount – 8

Pre-season was always considered huge for Mason Mount, and he’s lived up to expectations improving game on game. Should’ve had a second assist of pre-season.

Marcus Rashford – 7

Marcus Rashford looked very quick, sharp and played an excellent pass to Hojlund for his goal. Positive signs.

Rasmus Hojlund – 7

After being forcefully withdrawn early, we can only really judge Hojlund on his goal. He looked sharp and it’s a real shame that his afternoon ended so early, let’s hope it isn’t serious.

Hannibal Mejbri – 5

Coming on for the injured Hojlund, Hannibal Mejbri just wasn’t on the same page as his teammates and was withdrawn at half-time.

Rhys Bennett – 6

Rhys Bennett lasted from Yoro’s exit until half-time, and he had little to do but didn’t put a foot wrong.

James Scanlon – 6

It’s tough to judge James Scanlon’s performance, yes he struggled to contain Martinelli, but he’s not a right-back so it was to be expected. A six is fair.

Will Fish – 6

Some impressive moments from Will Fish show he could do a job for United if called upon, but he was far from remarkable.

Jonny Evans – 7

Jonny Evans continues to defy logic as he seems to have a never-ending class in defence.

Sam Murray – 6

Like many of the second-half players, not a lot happened so it’d be tricky to judge them.

Christian Eriksen – 6

Christian Eriksen showed some flashes of brilliance, but ultimately he didn’t do enough.

Maxi Oyedele – 6

Another solid outing but he struggled due to being in the second team.

Antony – 5

What can be said about Antony at this point other than he performed exactly as expected.

Jadon Sancho – 6

Jadon Sancho showed flashes of brilliance, but ultimately there was no cohesion in that team so everyone suffered.

Scott McTominay – 5

Amid reports of Scott McTominay being sold, he hasn’t done himself any favours here.

Ethan Wheatley – 6

Little to no service for Ethan Wheatley so it’d be harsh to have him lower than a six.
