Furious Manchester United fans pulled no punches towards Luke Shaw after the defender’s display in the Premier League defeat to Brentford on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils returned to Premier League action on the weekend and Manchester United travelled to the Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford.
Ruben Amorim made changes to his Red Devils first-team squad only days after United’s 3-0 win over Athletic Club in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.
United made the breakthrough against Brentford in the first half after Mason Mount netted the opener in the 14th minute at the Gtech Community Stadium.
However, Luke Shaw was then at fault after he put the ball past Altay Bayindir and Brentford were level against United in the 27th minute of the Premier League tie.
Kevin Schade then fired Thomas Frank’s men in front in the first half and Brentford took a 2-1 lead over United into half-time in Sunday’s contest.
Thomas Frank’s side would take control of the match in the second half after Kevin Schade completed his brace before Yoane Wissa added Brentford’s fourth.
Alejandro Garnacho pulled one back for United after the Red Devils went 4-1 down before second-half substitute Amad Diallo found the back of the net in injury time.
United were unable to find the all-important equaliser at the Gtech Community Stadium ahead of the full-time whistle and the Bees walked away with all three points.

What Man Utd fans said about Luke Shaw’s display in the 4-3 Premier League loss to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium
Luke Shaw has been easing his return to the Manchester United first team under Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim after another injury-hit season at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old United left-back, who is under contract until 2027, has been limited to only eight appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.
Shaw started the match against Brentford as the left-sided centre-back in Amorim’s tactical system for United and he only played the first half of the 4-3 defeat.
The United defender served as captain after Bruno Fernandes was dropped to the bench and Amorim subbed Shaw off for Leny Yoro in the second half.
United fans took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and couldn’t hold back their feelings over Shaw’s disappointing performance for the Red Devils.
One X user said: “BTW, this should definitely be Luke Shaw’s LAST [sic] season at the club, he’s done.”
“Luke Shaw provided none of his experience in the first half,” another added.
A third Red Devils supporter tweeted: “Starting a match with Luke Shaw is scarier [than being without Bruno Fernandes].”
Somebody else posted: “Luke Shaw has been woeful since his return from injury… I miss Shawberto Carlos – all focus [is] on the second leg against [Athletic] Bilbao now.”
While a fifth argued: “Luke Shaw has overstayed his welcome and needs to be sold at this point. Time to accept it just hasn’t worked out.”
Another United fan claimed: “For our own [sake], Luke Shaw must not start on Thursday. He single-handedly finished us today…”
“Luke Shaw [is] always unavailable and now a liability now that he’s available,” a seventh suggested.
And an eighth simply commented: “I hope Luke Shaw is on the transfer list.”
Why did Ruben Amorim sub off Luke Shaw in the Premier League match vs Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium?
Speaking after the scoreline at the Gtech Community Stadium, United manager Amorim insisted that he was cautious of Shaw after Matthijs de Ligt’s injury.
“I don’t know so I’m really concerned – not about Thursday,” he said on Sky Sports, as per BBC Sport.
“We took off Luke Shaw at half-time to protect and have players for Thursday, but I’m more concerned whether it is a small or big injury and thinking about next season.”
United are 15th in their abysmal 2024-25 Premier League campaign and the Red Devils have lost 16 times, with only three league matches remaining this season.
