Manchester United fans have made their feelings clear on Manuel Ugarte after the Red Devils midfielder’s performance against Manchester City on Sunday evening.
Ruben Amorim’s men staged a dramatic comeback late in the second half to shock Manchester City and sealed all three Premier League points at the Etihad.
City broke the deadlock in the first half after Manchester United once again showed vulnerability from a set piece and Josko Gvardiol headed home past Andre Onana.
However, Josko Gvardiol’s first-half opener was cancelled out late in the contest after Matheus Nunes carelessly brought down Amad Diallo in the City box.
Bruno Fernandes stepped up after Amad Diallo won the penalty and the United captain pulled back a crucial equaliser after beating Ederson from the spot-kick.
Amad capped off his show-stealing performance after the United star nipped the ball over Ederson before slotting it into the back of the City net in the 90th minute.

Ugarte starts for Man Utd against Man City
Manchester United have climbed to 12th place in the Premier League table after their 2-1 comeback win against Manchester City at the Etihad.
Ruben Amorim’s side are now six points adrift from the Premier League top four and five points behind fifth-place City after 16 league matches played.
Manuel Ugarte started in the heart of midfield and the United summer signing saw out the full 90 minutes with a superb display for Red Devils manager Amorim.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan midfielder initially struggled to secure regular first-team minutes under Erik ten Hag after his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain.
Ugarte played under Amorim at Sporting CP before he signed for PSG in 2023 and the United star was impressive with holding the midfield together against City.
Man Utd fans react to Ugarte’s performance vs Man City
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, waxed lyrical about Ugarte’s contributions to Sunday’s Premier League win.
One Red Devils supporter praised Ugarte for being “quite brilliant,” while another called him the “key” for the front and back of the United team against City.
Another United fan claimed that the former Sporting CP and PSG midfielder showed his real worth on the pitch amid the “persistent narrative” against him.
One fan said: “Amad and [Noussair] Mazraoui [were] our [two] best players but Ugarte has been fantastic in the middle of the pitch.”
“Ugarte, BTW. Top performance today,” a second added.
Someone else wrote: “I thought Ugarte was quite brilliant today.”
A fourth X user tweeted: “Ugarte was MOTM. Helluva [sic] performance. Might be the best performance I’ve seen against City from a United midfield player.”
While a fifth posted: “I’m happy for Ugarte. He was solid all game. He’ll move on stronger from today’s performance.”
“Ugarte was key to holding the back and front today,” somebody else said.
Another suggested: “Despite the persistent narrative, another brilliant performance from Manuel Ugarte. Incredible shuttling. Simple, yet secure IP asset. Relentless ground coverage. His OOP work in those decisive last minutes [was] invaluable. An underrated entity.”
And an eighth added: “Everyone would praise Diallo as he deserves, but oh boy, Ugarte is incredible!!!”
