Manchester United fans are convinced that Erik ten Hag made a mistake starting Christian Eriksen for the Premier League clash against Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Eriksen made an impact in his first season at Old Trafford, but the Danish midfielder’s influence for United in the current campaign has waned.
The 31-year-old Denmark international has started nine times in 15 Premier League appearances, with Eriksen scoring once and assisting once for United so far.
Eriksen also suffered a knee injury in United’s 1-0 win over Luton Town back in November and missed five league matches before his return in December.
The Denmark midfielder, who is under contract with United until 2025, failed to impress Red Devils fans with his performance in the match against Spurs.

Eriksen lacks real impact against Tottenham
Rasmus Hojlund fired United into the lead at Old Trafford in the third minute before Spurs striker Richarlison cancelled out the opener in the 19th minute.
The 20-year-old Demark striker then picked up an assist as Marcus Rashford restored United’s advantage and the Red Devils took a 2-1 lead before half-time.
However, Spurs made an immediate impact straight after kick-off in the second half, as Rodrigo Bentancur pulled the scores level against United at Old Trafford.
Eriksen took his place in the United starting XI and started alongside teenage sensation Kobbie Mainoo for the clash against his former side.
However, the former Brentford and Inter Milan player offered very little to United in the first half and looked poor when he was out of possession.
Eriksen’s second half for United lasted only 13 minutes before Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag withdrew the former Tottenham star for Scott McTominay.
United fans reacted to Eriksen’s performance
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, had a lot to say about Eriksen’s performance during the club’s first Premier League match of 2024.
Red Devils supporters claimed that the United midfielder is “hit [and] miss” and suggested that Eriksen was a “spectator that entire first half.”
One fan asked: “Does anyone know if Eriksen was playing in that first half?”
Another wrote: “Eriksen is so hit [and] miss. Either brilliant or a passenger.”
A third posted: “Eriksen has been a spectator that entire first half like the rest of us.”
“I’d rather McTominay than Eriksen at this point, which says a lot,” another added.
Someone else commented: “Eriksen is good in possession but without it he’s hopeless. Mainoo is having to cover so much ground once again.”
While a sixth tweeted: “Can someone please tell me what Eriksen offers? Basically, a traffic cone in midfield every other game.”
And a seventh fan said: “Has Eriksen done anything today?”
