Manchester United fans dropped their clear-cut verdict on Rasmus Hojlund after the Red Devils’ Europa League encounter with Greek side PAOK on Thursday evening.
The Red Devils secured their place in the Europa League this season after their stunning 2-1 FA Cup win over Manchester City at Wembley back in May.
However, Manchester United have disappointed in their opening three Europa League matches in the 2024-25 campaign ahead of the PAOK clash.
The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw in their Europa League opener against FC Twente at Old Trafford in September.
United then blew a 2-0 lead against Porto in October and came from behind to seal a late 3-3 draw against the Portuguese side at the Estadio do Dragao.
The Premier League club were reunited with former United manager Jose Mourinho last month in the 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce last month in Istanbul.
Hojlund vs PAOK in Europa League
Manchester United welcomed PAOK to Old Trafford for their fourth Europa League clash, with Ruud van Nistelrooy leading the Red Devils as interim manager.
United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy took up the position of interim manager after former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag was axed from Old Trafford last week.
Denmark striker Rasmus Hojlund has struggled to make his presence felt for the Red Devils in the 2024-25 campaign after his return from injury.
The 21-year-old United star missed the opening weeks of the season after he limped off in the 2-1 pre-season defeat to Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Hojlund has made 11 appearances across all competitions for United in the current campaign and the Danish forward has only netted twice for the Red Devils.
The Denmark international offered very little in the final third in the first half against PAOK, with the Red Devils going into half-time 0-0 at Old Trafford.
Amad Diallo broke the deadlock in the second half for United and fired the Red Devils into the lead, but Hojlund’s performance once again drew criticism.
Man Utd fans react to Hojlund’s performance
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, made their feelings clear on Hojlund after a disappointing overall display against PAOK.
Red Devils supporters insisted that Hojlund was deeply “inconsistent” with his showing, while other United fans slammed him for being “invisible.”
“I can’t believe I’ve had the displeasure of witnessing this Hojlund performance,” one fan said.
Someone else added: “Hojlund is trending, only right he is he has been missing in this match against PAOK.”
“Hojlund has struggled today, unfortunately,” another tweeted.
A fourth X user wrote: “Hojlund should have taken the day off because we’re basically playing with 10 players.”
While a fifth posted: “I rate Hojlund but his whole play is inconsistent. I’m never sure if he’ll hold up the ball or not.”
“Hojlund has been off the pace today, struggling to get involved in play, losing the ball way too easily,” somebody else commented.
Another wrote: “Hojlund doesn’t know how to protect the ball. He always loses right before he makes a pass. So, infuriating to watch.”
And an eighth simply said: “Hojlund has been invisible tonight.”
