Manchester United fans dropped major praise on a key Red Devils first-team player after his ‘top’ display for Ruben Amorim’s men against Athletic Club on Thursday.
Ruben Amorim’s side travelled to Spain to resume their crucial Europa League campaign and Manchester United were in action against Athletic Club in Bilbao.
The Red Devils took control of the first-leg Europa League semi-final encounter and United inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Athletic Club at the San Mames Stadium.
Casemiro put United into the lead in the first half before La Liga outfit Athletic Club were reduced to 10 men after Dani Vivian was sent off in the match.
Bruno Fernandes then converted a penalty for United to put the Red Devils 2-0 up before the Portugal midfielder completed his brace before half-time.
Athletic Club were unable to rally back after their major setback in the first half and United ensured their advantage over the Spanish club ahead of the return leg.
United are now on the verge of reaching this season’s Europa League final, which will be played at Athletic Club’s San Mames Stadium on 21st May.
Either the Red Devils or Athletic Club will face Tottenham or Bodo/Glimt in the final, with Spurs beating the Norwegian side 3-1 in their first-leg semi-final tie on Thursday.

Man Utd fans’ reaction to Leny Yoro’s Europa League performance vs Athletic Club at the San Mames Stadium spoke volumes
Leny Yoro was deployed in the three-man Manchester United backline alongside Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof for the 3-0 win over 10-man Athletic Club.
The 19-year-old French centre-back played the full 90 minutes on Thursday and Leny Yoro impressed with his display in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for United.
Yoro showed his superb composure in the first half when Athletic Club dominated United and the Red Devils defender has shown his real quality for Amorim’s men.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were left in awe at “classic defender” Yoro putting in a performance that went “quietly unnoticed.”
One X user wrote: “Leny Yoro, I [didn’t] even say a word about him all through the game. Looks like we are all getting used to him delivering.”
“Leny Yoro is a classic defender. Top, top player,” a second United fan said.
Somebody else added: “I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Leny Yoro is quietly becoming one of our best signings in years. After a slow(ish) start with injuries and adjustment, he’s now one of the top young CBs in the game, consistent, composed, and a key piece for the future.
While a fourth tweeted: “Leny Yoro appreciation tweet. What a player, BTW!”
Another posted: “It’ll go quietly unnoticed because of everything else this evening, but Leny Yoro delivered a performance beyond his years in a truly hostile environment.”
“Leny Yoro is [an] unsung hero. What a player this boy is,” a sixth commented.
And a seventh suggested: “Leny Yoro. Just keep [doing] what you’re doing. Another top performance.”
Somebody else predicted: “Leny Yoro will be one of the best in the world. Just wait.”
Ruben Amorim sends an important message to his Man Utd players after their Europa League semi-final win over Athletic Club
United manager Amorim has admitted that he won’t be complacent with the Red Devils’ advantage over Athletic Club ahead of the second-leg semi-final tie.
“Of course, we have an advantage,” he told TNT Sports, as per BBC Sport.
“We have our fans, but again, this could change. Anything can happen in one game.
“We need to be really careful with our players against Brentford. Noussair Mazraoui is dead, Patrick Dorgu is tried – we have to manage the players.”
United will host Spanish side Athletic Club for their second-leg Europa League tie at Old Trafford on 8th May, with kick-off slated for 8pm UK time.
