Manchester United fans made their feelings clear on Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentina winger’s performance against PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Red Devils picked up their first win in Europe this season, with Manchester United inflicting a 2-0 defeat on Greek side PAOK at Old Trafford.

United endured a disappointing start to their Europa League campaign under Erik ten Hag, who was sacked from the club last week after a poor start to the season.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was assistant manager to Erik ten Hag, was appointed interim manager and is leading the club after his Dutch compatriot was dismissed.

The 48-year-old United legend will see his interim spell end on Sunday after the Premier League clash against Leicester City at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim will leave Sporting CP later this week and succeed Ten Hag as United manager on 11th November as the international break begins.

Garnacho starts for Man Utd vs PAOK

Manchester United drew their opening three Europa League matches of the season under Erik ten Hag before collecting all three points against Greek outfit PAOK.

Alejandro Garnacho made the starting XI against PAOK and was deployed out on the left wing, with Marcus Rashford dropping to the bench for the match.

Amad Diallo started out on the right instead of Garnacho and the 22-year-old Ivorian attacker stole the limelight thanks to his stunning brace.

The United winger broke the deadlock at Old Trafford in the 50th minute before the Ivory Coast international netted for the second time in the 77th minute.

Garnacho, unlike Amad Diallo, failed to make his presence felt in the final third and the United winger disappointed with his lacklustre display in the 2-0 win.

The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker’s uninspiring performance came to an end in the 65th minute after Ruud van Nistelrooy hooked him off for Marcus Rashford.

Man Utd fans react to Garnacho’s display vs PAOK

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were deeply underwhelmed by Garnacho’s lack of output on the pitch on Thursday.

Red Devils supporters insisted that Garnacho is “much better” as an “impact sub,” while other United fans called for Amad Diallo to start ahead of him.

“Amad and Rashford to start against Leicester. Garnacho is much better as an impact sub,” one fan said.

Someone else added: “Amad really showed his quality. I’m happy for him. There’s no chance in hell that Garnacho should ever be starting ahead of him. EVER.”

A third X user wrote: “Has to be Rashford and Amad starting on the wings [on] Sunday. Garnacho needs a break and is a huge threat from the bench.”

“Amad simply proving why he should be starting ahead of Rashford/Garnacho. Very underrated,” another tweeted.

While a fifth posted: “Amad should be starting with Rashford, then we use Garnacho as a super sub [as] he’s more effective when coming on as sub [rather] than starting the [match].”

And a sixth commented: “Benching Amad for Rashford and Garnacho is one of the reasons [Erik ten Hag] saw flames. Amad has the best football IQ of our wingers by far.”

“I never wanna see Amad on the bench again to accommodate Garnacho and/or Rashford playing on the right,” somebody else said.

An eighth X user added: “Amad needs to start more regularly from now on… better option on the right wing while Rashford/Garnacho can be on the left side.”
