Manchester United fans have shared their telling verdict on Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentina international’s stunning performance against Barnsley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
Erik ten Hag’s men outclassed and dominated Barnsley in a one-sided performance, with Manchester United inflicting a crushing 7-0 win in the third-round tie.
United will now progress to the fourth round of the competition after a superb start to their Carabao Cup campaign in the 2024-25 season.
Alejandro Garnacho has faced increasing competition at Old Trafford this season, with Amad Diallo competing with the Argentina star for a place out on the right.
The 20-year-old winger has only started one Premier League match in the current campaign, with three of Garnacho’s appearances coming from the bench.
Garnacho has made his presence felt when he has come off the bench, including assisting in the 1-0 win over Fulham and scoring in the 3-0 win over Southampton.

Garnacho shines for Man Utd vs Barnsley
Alejandro Garnacho secured his place in the starting XI for the 7-0 steamrolling of Barnsley, with the Spain-born attacker playing a key role in the win.
Erik ten Hag deployed the Argentina winger out on the left wing instead of the right, with Marcus Rashford leading the frontline and Antony out on the opposite flank.
Garnacho set up Marcus Rashford for United’s first-half opener before Antony extended the Red Devils’ advantage from the spot-kick in the Carabao Cup tie.
The United star then added his name to the scoresheet in the first half before completing his brace only four minutes into the second half against Barnsley.
Garnacho’s last major contribution in the second half came with his second assist for Rashford, who completed his brace in United’s demolition win.
Ten Hag withdrew Garnacho in the 84th minute and replaced him with Amad Diallo, with the Argentina international signing off a stunning performance for United.
Man Utd fans react to Garnacho vs Barnsley
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, made their feelings clear about what they saw from Garnacho out on the left.
Ten Hag has preferred to deploy Garnacho out on the right wing and opted to have Rashford as his first-choice pick out on the left flank.
However, the 54-year-old United boss turned to Garnacho for the left wing after using Rashford down the middle against Barnsley, which yielded brilliant results.
Red Devils supporters are convinced that Garnacho must start out on the left after his sensational brace and double assist at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
One fan tweeted: “I know Rashford is back to scoring, but it’s evident Garnacho is better on the let than him. To me, Rashford needs to convert into a striker. I think it suits him much more now than the left wing.”
Someone else commented: “I would keep Garnacho on the pitch all the time as long as he is fit. He is actually a superb talent. Rashford was at his best when playing both on the left and right wing. Him and Garnacho on the pitch at the same time is a real threat to any defence.”
“Garnacho’s best position is definitely on the left,” a third posted.
Another wrote: “I love that Garnacho has stopped being super selfish on the left as well. [The] link-up play was one of the reasons why I preferred him on the right.”
A fifth X user tweeted: “Garnacho on the left is always a delight to watch. Huge talent this lad.”
While somebody else said: “Interesting [because] Garnacho is clearly a left winger and Amad is far superior on the right.”
And a seventh claimed: “Garnacho on the left wing makes us play 10,0000 [per cent] better. He has to be starting now. [Eight] G/A in [five] games! [Four] goals [and] [four] assists. Viva Garnacho.”
“I will say again Garnacho is better on his natural left wing and scores beautiful goals from that spot,” another added.
