Bournemouth were clinical at Old Trafford and picked three points againstManchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United head into Christmas on the back of consecutive losses following a miserable 3-0 defeat to the Cherries.

Set pieces cost United again with Dean Huijsen opening the scoring from a free-kick routine. Another bad habit of this squad is conceding twice in quick succession.

After it happened against Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Tottenham – Bournemouth scored twice in three minutes in the second half to extend their lead.

Noussair Mazraoui was poor and United fans were disappointed by Joshua Zirkzee on his return to the starting lineup. Ultimately, United were made to pay for their wasted chances, while Bournemouth were ruthless in front of goal.

Justin Kluivert starred against Man United for Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola started Justin Kluivert in an attacking midfield position at Old Trafford and the 25-year-old star impressed.

The son of Dutch legend, Patrick Kluivert, was at the centre of Bournemouth’s attacks and he etched his name onto the scoreline when he converted a penalty in the second half.

Kluivert made Premier League history last month when he became the first player to score a hat-trick of only penalties in a 4-2 victory over Wolves.

He continued his impressive record from the spot against United.

After the victory, Kluivert told Sky Sports: “It’s a massive win. Back-to-back wins at this beautiful stadium is amazing.

“It’s unreal. We’ve been working hard, and building on the same plan. It’s amazing with the coach, and with the players we can do something beautiful as you saw today.”

Six years ago, Kluivert came extremely close to calling that “beautiful stadium” his home.

Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Justin Kluivert in 2018

Rewind to 2017 and United were being managed by another Portuguese head coach. Jose Mourinho had just won the Europa League with the Red Devils, beating Ajax 2-0 in the final.

The Ajax team that lost the final included current United stars Andre Onana and Matthijs de Ligt. Kluivert was on the bench for the Dutch giants and was an unused substitute.

After the full-time whistle, Mourinho was spotted chatting to Kluivert on the pitch and transfer rumours quickly followed.

United were heavily linked with a move for Kluivert in 2018 but he ended up joining Serie A side Roma instead.

As reported by Sky Sports, his father, Patrick, confirmed that Justin snubbed a move to United as it “ould have been too big a jump”. He ended up making his way to the Premier League anyway with Bournemouth.
