Manchester United slumped to a dismal home defeat on Sunday afternoon, losing 3-0 to Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim was hoping to wrestle back some momentum after seeing Manchester United lose to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.
United crashed out of the EFL Cup in the quarter finals, sapping some of the buzz from last weekend’s win over Manchester City.
The home cash with Bournemouth offered a chance to get back on track but United were hugely disappointing.
Dean Huijsen opened the scoring from a set piece before Noussair Mazraoui gave away a penalty, allowing Justin Kluivert to score.
Antoine Semenyo added number three, handing Bournemouth a second 3-0 win at Old Trafford in a row.

Lisandro Martinez on Manchester United defending
United fans were on a high this time a week ago but are now heading into Christmas on a low.
This up-and-down nature is so frustrating for United fans and Sunday was another major low point in this disappointing season.
United continue to leak goals from set pieces with Huijsen’s headed opener coming almost unchallenged in the penalty area.
Defender Lisandro Martinez has now told BBC Sport that United ‘have to work’ on set pieces, believing that the game would have been a lot different if Bournemouth didn’t land that soft opener.
Martinez is ‘angry’ with United’s form and clearly believes that set pieces are a major reason for recent results.
Martinez called on everybody to ‘show personality and character’ and believes that the situation must ‘change quickly’ with United simply not good enough in both boxes.
“I always say in this kind of situation we have to show personality and character,” said Martinez.
“We are playing so well and unfortunately, we couldn’t score today. We have to believe. At this club, we have to win every game and we know that.
“We are so angry with this kind of situation. We have to work on set-pieces especially. I believe a lot in this team and staff. If they don’t score their first goal from set-pieces then it is a totally different game. We missed many chances today. We have to score. We know what we have to do and we have to change quickly,” he added.

Who is in charge of United’s set piece coaching?
This situation has become a little muddled since Amorim’s arrival.
Andreas Georgson was appointed as United’s set piece specialist over the summer having worked with Jason Wilcox at Southampton.
Whilst Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff moved on following the Dutchman’s exit, Georgson stayed on to work with Amorim.
Speaking in November, Georgson commented on his role at United as he guided the set piece training.
Carlos Fernandes then followed Amorim to United and Georgson’s role appears to have changed.
Amorim then told the Manchester Evening News that Fernandes had taken over as United’s lead set piece coach with Georgson ‘there to help’.
“The thinking is Carlos is responsible for set pieces, different stuff. Andreas is also there to help. That’s it. That’s the reason,” said Amorim.
United are now leaking goals from set pieces and Amorim may yet need a rethink with Georgson possibly needed to take the lead once again.
