Manchester United picked up the first Premier League win of the Ruben Amorim era by beating Everton 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United were back in action at Old Trafford on Sunday, just days after beating Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League.

That was the first win for new boss Ruben Amorim and he backed it up with a first Premier League win.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee were the heroes on the day with both scoring braces in a 4-0 thrashing of Everton.

Rashford has praised Amorim’s impact at Old Trafford but United still have a long way to go under the 39-year-old.

Joshua Zirkzee celebrates Manchester United brace

Amorim made a huge call before the game had even started.

Rasmus Hojlund scored twice against Bodo/Glimt but was left on the bench as Amorim handed a start to Joshua Zirkzee.

The Dutchman has been under fire of late having failed to score since the opening day of the season.

Zirkzee has been linked with Juventus in recent weeks as his slow start at Old Trafford sparked surprise exit rumours, though Gianluca Di Marzio claims a Zirkzee transfer is impossible in January.

Amorim believes in Zirkzee and handed him a chance to shine against Everton, with the striker repaying that faith with two goals.

Zirkzee took to Instagram to celebrate, posting a photo of himself celebrating with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes.

Amad responded by stating ‘My ST’, throwing his backing behind the Dutch forward.

Fernandes replied with a ‘bang bang’ image, celebrating Zirkzee scoring not once but twice against the Toffees.

Bayern Munich superstar Jamal Musiala offered two fire emojis whilst Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson, Stefan Posch and Jhon Lucumi all sent their support to Zirkzee.

This season has been a tough one for Zirkzee but it’s clear that teammates both past and present are in his corner.

Amorim trying to work both strikers into form

Zirkzee is clearly delighted with his goals and right fully so.

United paid around £36million to sign Zirkzee from Bologna and the returns haven’t quite been coming for him.

Amorim inherited two strikers who have been struggling for goals as Hojlund hadn’t exactly been prolific either.

The new United boss left goal machine Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting and will have wanted somebody to step up with goals for him at United.

Hojlund and Zirkzee have responded with a brace each in recent days whilst Marcus Rashford has scored in both of Amorim’s Premier League games.

The goals may only becoming against Ipswich Town, Bodo/Glimt and Everton but it’s all about confidence.

Amorim knows that Zirkzee, Hojlund and Rashford have bags of talent but have been a little wayward at times this season.

All three have found the net under Amorim though with the United boss clearly trying to bring all three forwards into form rather than casting them aside.
