Jadon Sancho promises bright Manchester United future after encouraging return vs Rangers

Manchester United got their first pre-season victory on their second attempt as goals from Amad and Joe Hugill in either half saw them cruise to a win.

The match was notable for many things besides the win as Leny Yoro made his United debut and many first-team stars returned to action.

One of those, whose return was never expected when the summer began, was Jadon Sancho, who started on the left.

Amad was the star of the show on the opposite wing but it was an encouraging return to the team for Sancho too, promising a bright future.

Jadon Sancho impresses vs Rangers

The game against Rangers was a welcome one for Sancho since the Scottish side are also starting their season instead of being in the middle of it like Rosenborg.

Sancho looked sharp and took nice positions between the lines. He had the confidence to take his man on and showed nice creativity in tight spaces.

He missed a guilt-edged chance to reintroduce himself with a bang when he shot over from Amad’s brilliant pass.

His attacking enterprise was plain to see as he completed 100% of his dribbles (3/3) and created one chance through a smart link-up in the final third.

The winger was also a willing worker as he tracked back constantly to help young Sam Murray on defence, winning 4/6 duels when the game got scrappy.

Like a new signing

It is a cliche in football and especially in the context of this United side since they missed so many players last season.

However, it fits perfectly for Sancho, who was written off after last season and felt like United were just waiting for a buyer for him. Despite being on the books, he wasn’t really considered a United player.

Now, Ten Hag has already said that a line has been drawn and both parties are moving on, opening the door for his return.

With the general good mood around the club, the hope will be that Sancho can continue his resurgence as not only would it save United millions in the market, but it would also send a message to other clubs who were circling around a potentially cut-price deal for the player.
