Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville dropped a scathing assessment on one Manchester United star after Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad.
Ruben Amorim suffered another major setback in Manchester United’s mixed start to the 2025-26 Premier League campaign, with Manchester City coming out on top.
The Red Devils faced an uphill battle in the first Manchester derby of the season after conceding in the first half, with Phil Foden’s header breaking the deadlock.
City built on their dominance over United in the second half and Erling Haaland scored a stunning brace to ensure all three Premier League points for his side.
The 25-year-old in-form Norwegian striker netted eight minutes after the break before Erling Haaland beat Altay Bayindir for the second time in the 68th minute.

Gary Neville’s brutal verdict on Luke Shaw is a reality check for the Man Utd star after the 3-0 Man City defeat at the Etihad
Luke Shaw made the starting XI for Manchester United’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester City and the 30-year-old defender played in the three-man backline on Sunday.
The England international saw out the full 90 minutes against City in the Manchester derby, but Luke Shaw’s performance on the weekend left much to be desired.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Gary Neville was deeply critical of United’s overall performance at the Etihad after Pep Guardiola’s men came out on top.
However, the 50-year-old United legend pulled no punches towards Shaw and suggested it was “one of the worst” matches that he had witnessed from him.
“There were a lot of individual errors out there today,” Neville said, as per BBC Sport.
“Luke Shaw had one of the worst games I have seen him have. All three goals he could have done better.”
Luke Shaw’s performance vs Man City in the Premier League defeat at the Etihad showed the England star at an all-time low
United manager Ruben Amorim has preferred to use Luke Shaw as a left-sided centre-back, with Patrick Dorgu his first-choice pick as the left wing-back.
However, Shaw was left deeply exposed in Amorim’s tactical system for United on Sunday afternoon, with the Three Lions star’s weaknesses on full display.
Jeremy Doku was able to skip straight into the United box for Phil Foden’s opener after a helpless Shaw failed to intercept the City winger in a dangerous position.
Shaw also switched off early in the second half and failed to pick up Erling Haaland after Jeremy Doku played the City and Norway striker through against United.
The United star was then at fault in the build-up for Haaland’s brace, with Shaw dispossessed in the City half before Bernardo Silva launched his side’s counterattack.
