Manchester United were unable to defeat Burnley despite an impressive attacking performance in a 2-2 draw, with one player catching Gary Neville’s eye.
It was the night Darren Fletcher would have been dreaming of for years, leading out his very own Manchester United team, and while the result wasn’t ideal, the performance was one to be proud of.
Fletcher took over as interim after United sacked Ruben Amorim, and Wednesday was his first time in the dugout.

Shea Lacey seems like a pretty permanent fixture within the United first-team squad, having been consistently on the bench for months, despite not getting much of a chance under Amorim.
Lacey has impressed Paul Scholes earlier this season, and against Burnley, Fletcher turned to the 18-year-old in the 84th minute, replacing Manuel Ugarte.
In his 11-minute appearance, Lacey had two moments of magic, hitting the crossbar and then seeing a shot from range drift wide, and on Sky Sports‘ commentary, Gary Neville was stunned.
“Where’s he been?”, Neville asked rhetorically after Lacey came close again in the 94th minute.
“You wouldn’t like to give him another if you were Burnley”, the club legend later remarked about Lacey’s shooting.
