Saturday saw Manchester United face Tottenham and the game was a 2-2 draw after late-drama saw two stoppage time goals.
It was a nervy start to the game, with Manchester United and Tottenham both visibly not willing to take risks. However, it was United who struck first with Bryan Mbeumo heading home his sixth goal of the season.
But United didn’t kick on, and Tottenham stayed in the game long enough to then stage a comeback with a late double looking like it was condemning United to a first loss in four games.
It was a completely undeserved for the hosts, but United could only blame themselves with no urgency to score a second.
However, in the dying moments of the game, Matthijs de Ligt stepped up to score a vital equaliser, heading home a corner at the back post. United drawing is not the desired result, but it is much better than defeat.
But who were the big winners and losers from the game?
Winners
First, the winners.
Bryan Mbeumo: Scored his sixth goal of the season and fourth in four games to continue the hot form that saw Mbeumo crowned the October Premier League player of the month.
The Cameroonian has established himself as the main man for United right now and he is one of the most in-form players in the Premier League. Amorim is going to seriously miss him when AFCON begins.
Amad: Amad started the game in an unusually advanced role, and in this position he grabbed an assist for Mbeumo’s goal.
This will show Amorim that he should considering using the Ivorian in his more natural position. However, Amad was also solid at wing-back in what was a all-round good performance from the number 16.
Patrick Dorgu: After Diogo Dalot’s horrific display against Nottingham Forest, change at left wing-back was needed and this came in the form of Dorgu starting, and he took his chance.
Dorgu was a big improvement, defensively being very good and getting a couple of nice crosses into the box. The role is now his to lose as Dalot’s introduction saw the Portuguese defender struggle.
Matthijs de Ligt: The Dutchman has been excellent this season, and his form continued on Saturday as he starred for United in the 2-2 draw.
De Ligt’s goal at the end salvaged a crucial point to keep the unbeaten streak going and momentum is high going into the Christmas period in two weeks.
Losers
And then the losers.
Ruben Amorim: For a second week running, Manchester United have seen points dropped from a winning position, and this is not a trend that can be allowed to continue, yet it did against Spurs.
If United had won both of the last two, there might actually be a title race on the cards, but the struggle to put games away has cost the Red Devils once again here.
Bruno Fernandes: As far as Fernandes’ performances go, there have been few worse than the levels he showed on Saturday against Spurs.
Fernandes was sloppy in possession and a passenger without the ball, and his late corner assist isn’t enough to disregard the performance.
