Forget Fernandes, the true architect of Sesko’s goal vs Brentford is not being talked about enough

Another Benjamin Sesko goal turned out to be the winner, this time against Brentford, but the true architect lay elsewhere.

A double-salvo from Man Utd in the first half was enough to seal all three points against Brentford in a 2-1 win, with Benjamin Sesko scoring the second.

Bruno Fernandes will get the headlines for his 19th league assist of the season, now just one away from the PL’s all-time record.

However, the true architect of that goal wasn’t Fernandes, because it was set in motion by someone else.

Do you think he could get two in the next game vs Liverpool?!

Amad’s underrated role in Sesko winner

For Sesko’s goal vs Brentford, Fernandes carried the ball from the halfway line into Brentford’s box, with Bryan Mbeumo and Sesko running either side of him.

It was a three vs two opportunity, but the reason that was the case is because of Amad.

Brentford were on the attack and raining down on United’s goal when Amad stuck out a leg and perfectly timed a sliding tackle.

So strong was the force that the ball flew straight to Fernandes, who was near the halfway line looking for a potential counter-attack.

The United captain caught the ball in his stride, caught the Brentford defence napping, and a player of his quality was left in acres of space.

He made the correct pass, and Sesko did the rest, but none of it would have been possible had Amad not made that perfectly timed, strong sliding tackle to kick off the move.

Now that Mainoo is starting to match Amad’s off-ball work and Mainoo is starting to improve leaps and bounds on his work off the ball, it will narrow United’s midfielder search.

How would you rate Kobbie Mainoo’s performance vs Brentford out of 10 ???

Ineos no longer need to buy an athletic monster to do the running for Mainoo, because the Utd youngster is far from a luxury player now.

He’s putting in the hard yards now and is reaping the dividends on and off the ball, and they already have Amad running his socks off, as evidenced by his role in Sesko’s goal.

Both youngsters need to continue doing this, while adding more to their game, like goalscoring, because they are well on their way to becoming one of the best in the world.
