Casemiro stole the headlines, but one unsung Man Utd man deserves the credit vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United ran out 1-0 winners against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

It was a Casemiro header in the dying embers that settled things at The City Ground. A beautifully whipped Bruno Fernandes ball was met by the Brazilian in the 87th minute to send United through to the quarter-finals.

Where they will face Liverpool. Yes, United welcome a familiar foe to Old Trafford, in what will be a tasty clash.

But that’s a matter for another time, right now – Manchester United can enjoy the win… sort of.

Casemiro stole the headlines

Let’s be honest, it was again, a rather lacklustre performance from the Manchester United squad. The second half was particularly stale, and if it wasn’t for Casemiro popping up – who knows what could’ve been the outcome in extra time and beyond?

However, credit where credits due, the ex-Real Madrid man was great on the night and definitely deserves his portion of the tabloid headlines on Thursday morning.

His all-round game looked a lot more reminiscent of the Casemiro of last season, he dictated things and fought like a warrior in the middle of the park. He impressed his boss.

But a different Manchester United star deserves the credit for the win.

Andre Onana deserves the credit

An unsung hero on the night – Andre Onana was on top form against Forest. He made some absolutely stunning saves throughout, which ultimately kept the tie-level pegging.

There was little to no talk about the Cameroonian shot-stopper after the fixture, which is baffling. He’s been scrutinized a lot at times this season, so a performance like this should be hailed.

He barely put a foot wrong on the night. Manchester United fans saw a glimpse of the routine performance they thought they were getting when they purchased Inter Milan’s number one.

Can he put in a fine display at Manchester City in the Premier League on the weekend?
