It was another disappointing day for Manchester United as Ruben Amorim watched his side succumb to a 3-1 loss.
After the high of beating Chelsea last weekend, Manchester United were dragged back to the staggering reality of this season by Brentford.
Having not won away from home to the Bees in three years, confidence was never going to be high, even with the new head coach, Keith Andrews.
After starting slowly, United conceded twice inside 20 minutes, which effectively put the game beyond reach with Ruben Amorim’s side creating virtually nothing. After the game, Amorim voiced his frustration toward his team with a clear message.
United lost 3-1 to Brentford in the end, with the scoreline the perfect reflection of the game, raising plenty more concerns around Amorim’s future.
However, the manager wasn’t solely responsible, as United’s star players also let the team down, failing to create, score, or defend to the levels they are all capable of.

Bruno Fernandes left frustrated by Matheus Cunha for Manchester United
Bruno Fernandes was once again poor for United in this one as he missed a decisive penalty to equalise at 2-1, but also struggled throughout the game, which has been frequent this season.
However, Fernandes will feel he should’ve had another chance to put United level in the 36th minute.
Matheus Cunha was dribbling forward brilliantly at this time, with Fernandes free to his right, and a simple pass would have put him through one-on-one.
Cunha ultimately decided against finding Fernandes, instead firing a shot right into the Brentford defenders, which prompted a response from Fernandes.
Upon seeing this, Fernandes was fuming with Cunha, shouting to him to emphasise that he was open and the better option, quite rightly.
Often, Cunha will make the right decision in this situation, but the frustration from Fernandes is clear.
Bruno Fernandes facing familiar problems at Manchester United
While this is the first instance we have seen of Cunha and Fernandes potentially clashing on the pitch, poor decision-making around the box is an issue all too familiar to the club captain.
Last season, Fernandes was frequently left annoyed by Alejandro Garnacho as he made the wrong decision time and time again in and around the box.
Due to this, Fernandes’ frustrations likely come as a result of thinking it would be different with the Brazilian, who is yet to score or assist for the club.
The Cunha and Fernandes dynamic had many excited, but in practicality, so far, it hasn’t worked at all, with the pair almost too similar on the pitch to be effective.
Perhaps Cunha’s addition was unnecessary.
