Rasmus Hojlund will steal the headlines but one Manchester United teammate was simply flawless vs Bodo/Glimt.
Ruben Amorim announced himself to the Old Trafford crowd by treating them to a five-goal thriller on Thursday night.
Manchester United started quickly and took the lead through Alejandro Garnacho in the first minute but, just as they did against Ipswich Town, performance levels dropped once a lead was gained.

The visitors scored a quickfire double to take the lead but Hojlund – who also played a big part in the first goal – scored either side of half-time to secure a 3-2 win for United.
It was a complete performance from Hojlund, who also held up the ball well and linked up with those around him. However, there was one United teammate further back who simply did not put a foot wrong.

Lisandro Martinez was completely flawless vs Bodo/Glimt
Ahead of the Bodo/Glimt clash, Amorim was handed a boost when Lisandro Martinez returned to training having pulled out of the Argentina squad over the international break.
He was sorely missed against Ipswich with Jonny Evans struggling at Portman Road, but Lisandro Martinez immediately made his return to the starting lineup and was superb in a back three.
Amorim wants his three centre-backs to be aggressive and give forwards no space to turn – that is something that suits Martinez perfectly.
United’s ‘butcher’ at the back played 60 minutes against Bodo/Glimt and a glance at his stats proves he had a perfect performance.
Martinez completed 79 out of 79 passes and also had a 100 percent completion rate when it came to ground duels, winning two out of two.
| Minutes played | 60 |
| Touches | 83 |
| Passes completed | 100% (79/79) |
| Duels won | 100% (2/2) |
| Interceptions | 1 |
He took 83 touches of the ball, completed one key pass and didn’t lose possession once. Amorim wants United to keep control of matches and Martinez executed those instructions perfectly.
Lisandro Martinez must start for Man United vs Everton
Next up for United is another home match against Everton in the Premier League, and Amorim has admitted he will have to rotate against the Toffees.

However, taking Martinez off on the hour mark means he should be fresh and ready to start on Sunday afternoon.
If he wasn’t already a nailed-on starter, Martinez proved against Bodo/Glimt that he is perfect for his 3-4-3 system.
Martinez is part of United’s ideal defence, with Leny Yoro still to return from injury and add more quality at the back.
