Elon Musk urged to 'buy Manchester United and spend £2 billion on players'
Manchester United supporters are preparing to begin a fresh wave of protests this weekend against the Glazer family.
The club’s unwanted and unloved owners have so far failed to deliver on any promises made a year ago, and the team’s form has taken a nosedive.
With the appetite for new owners ramping up, the tough job is working out who may actually be able to buy United from the Glazers.
TalkSport host and United fan Andy Goldstein has had a go at luring multi-billionaire Elon Musk to the table.
Goldstein sent Musk a message on Twitter, urging him to spend his money on Manchester United and then splurge more money on new players.
Tesla CEO Musk is outspoken on social media and Goldstein suggested he might like to brag about the trophies he could help the Red Devils win.
So far there has been no response. Musk has a net worth of £265 billion, and could quite easily finance a deal for United. He is currently bidding 40 billion dollars to try and buy Twitter, The Guardian report.
A year ago fans wondered where the next potential buyers could come from, but the scramble to become next Chelsea owners, has shown there would be plenty of interested parties.
If the Glazers officially put United up for sale, there would be dozens of interested owners, many of who like Musk, could write off the debt in an instance. It is always worth a try.
Earlier this week Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds was asked if he would be interested in buying United. He said he was focused on Wrexham.
