On a night of international matches where Harry Maguire had a night to forget, Donny van de Beek gave Manchester United fans reason to be positive.
The Dutchman scored his first ever international goal for the Netherlands in a 1-1 draw away to Italy.
The goal was a classic midfield poachers strike. He was almost loitering on the edge of the box as Holland attacked and when he moved forward, a teammate struck the ball into him, before he reacted quickest to lash the ball into the roof of the net from close range.
As United fans have seen already, Van de Beek has a knack of being in the right place at the right time.

It is relatively simple. Get in the box as often as possible, to both create, and take advantage of any opportunity which comes his way.
The goal was from his only shot at goal. He chipped in defensively too, making one tackle, three interceptions, and two clearances.
Van de Beek has two goals for United so far, and is still awaiting his first Premier League start.
He will return to Old Trafford full of confidence, unlike Maguire who is going through a tough time right now.
Surely it’s time to put him in
Van de Beek can’t do more to earn a first Premier League start.
He was signed to present a quality alternative for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to use, and he has delivered so far.
Now it is time for Solskjaer to trust him, with United’s team playing poorly and looking in need of inspiration.
Whether United rest Fernandes, Pogba, or play all three in a change of formation, Van de Beek deserves an opportunity.
Fans are eager to see more of the Dutchman after his summer arrival, and the calls are getting more vocal after his international goal.
