The World Cup is just around the corner, and there will be 13 Manchester United stars competing in the tournament this summer.
In 2024, Fifa boosted funding for their club benefits programme, which is designed to pay clubs for releasing their players so that they are eligible to play in the competition.

Man United will cash in on £263m World Cup pot
As reported by Manchester Evening News, the total pot for Fifa’s programme currently sits at £263 million.
However, United’s payout will be determined by how far the club’s representing players get in the tournament.
Essentially, the way the programme works is that clubs are paid daily for each player present at the tournament, regardless of if they make it onto the pitch or not.
The payout begins from the day the player is released for international duty to their final match in the tournament.
In summary, United will be paid daily for all 13 players in the tournament until they are knocked out. The further they progress, the higher the total payout.

United’s first pre-season fixture is against Wrexham on July 18, so Michael Carrick could have a number of players back from the World Cup in time.
However, players competing in the tournament will likely be given an extended period of time off in the summer to recuperate for the 2026/27 campaign.
