Cristiano Ronaldo is back in Manchester United training after missing the 1-1 draw against Leicester through illness, as per the club’s official website.

Ronaldo was ruled out of the Old Trafford clash and Ralf Rangnick said the Portuguese superstar was suffering with ‘flu-like symptoms’.

The German said: “Unfortunately, he had some flu-like symptoms before training yesterday and so he didn’t feel well enough to train.

“We then decided to send our doctor to his home this morning just to check if he felt any better but unfortunately he isn’t. That is why he is not in the starting eleven like he was supposed to be.”

The club have confirmed that Ronaldo is back in training and he had a couple more awards to collect upon his return.

Ronaldo has been named United’s player of the month for March and said: “Lovely. Thank you very much for these votes. I feel so happy and motivated for the rest of the season. I will do my best like [I do] all the time so thank you to all of them and see you soon in Old Trafford. Thank you guys!”

The forward also won the Premier League Goal of the Month prize for his screamer in the 3-2 win over Tottenham last month.

He said: “Amazing. I just feel happy. It was a good goal, fantastic goal. I helped the team which is the most important [thing]. I’m not sure that I ever won a Goal of the Month award, do you know?! Probably, I don’t know, we can check!”

United were toothless in attack without Ronaldo against Leicester, playing the game at testimonial pace until they fell behind in the second half.

That was despite going into the game with a chance of getting into the top four if they put some form together. The game was played like United’s season was already dead.

Arsenal were in pole position going into the weekend but slumped to a 3-0 defeat at Crystal Palace but United did not put themselves in the best position to take advantage.

Tottenham did, and they currently sit fourth, despite United beating them in the game where Ronaldo hauled them through with a hat-trick.

It is to be hoped that Ronaldo is fit to face Everton on Saturday, who go into the game on the back of a huge relegation scrap with Burnley tonight.
