Edinson Cavani has been by far the pick of Manchester United’s signings this season.
He has shown how good this United side can be when they have a proper, experienced centre forward leading the line.
He does everything you’d want – chasing lost causes, holding the ball up, sniffing out chances and taking them.
It is not easy to narrow the best and biggest moments of his maiden Old Trafford season down to just three, but we have given it a go…

Stunning Southampton comeback
Cavani was still yet to start a Premier League game at this stage, back in November.
United were 2-0 down at half-time against the Saints and in need of inspiration.
In 45 minutes, Cavani dispelled any fears he wss going to be another Radamel Falcao.
His movement was electric and he dragged United back into the game almost single-handedly.
Cavani set up Bruno Fernandes’ goal to half the deficit, before two headers sealed a stunning comeback.
It was clear already that the Uruguayan had a sense of where to be at the right time and it instantly endeared him to the United fans.

Europa League masterclass
The clash with Roma was United’s biggest of the season up to that point. Cavani started and delivered big time.
Two goals and three assists in a staggering 6-2 victory is an unbelievable night’s work.
He was ruthless as United wracked up a scoreline that Roma simply couldn’t overturn in the second leg.
United’s players had struggled to deal with the pressure and expectation of semi-finals before under Solskjaer, which made Cavani’s experience and calm all the more valuable.

Magic moment for the fans
Until the game against Fulham, Cavani had never played in front of the United fans.
They couldn’t wait to show their appreciation and he produced a magic moment for them to enjoy within the first 20 minutes of their first game back at Old Trafford.
Cavani had the confidence to try and chip Alphonse Areola from long range and the technique to pull it off sumptuously.
It was a fitting way for United to net their first goal with supporters back in the ground and give Cavani a taste of the atmosphere he can expect to expect for a full campaign next time around.
Cavani has shown already he can be relied upon to step up at big moments.
