Manchester United have a host of incredible talents currently in the youth ranks, now one is nearing his return from injury.

Over the past few years, Carrington has produced multiple top-class talents for the first team with Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford among the most notable right now.

Manchester United however seem to have an endless conveyor belt, with the academy currently boasting several prospects who could eventually become first-team talents.

Bendito Mantato is one, with the 16-year-old proving that on Saturday as he scored four goals in a 5-2 win over Blackburn.

Now one of the other talented U18s is nearing a return, after missing five months of action this season.

Shea Lacey shares a message with a hint about his return

Shea Lacey is a player who United fans are incredibly excited about as he is potentially the most promising talent in the academy right now.

But after picking up an injury in late October and being missing ever since, his return has been long awaited and will be celebrated when it comes.

Lacey took to X on Saturday with a message to fans just after his U18 teammates had just thrashed Blackburn 5-2.

He wrote: “Been a tough 5 months not long left”, followed by a frustrated and fingers crossed emoji.

This suggests that Lacey is frustrated with his long absence and is raring to get back into action as soon as he can.

Lacey should be heading on the US tour this summer with Manchester United

Next month, Lacey turns 17 which is an age which could see him beginning to be considered by Erik ten Hag as an option for cameos and cup competitions.

So this summer could actually be a time when he is afforded the opportunity to impress the Dutchman by going on the US Tour with the senior side.

He will likely spend most of next season as a U21 player, likely graduating from the U18s allowing Mantato to be a regular there. But if Lacey impresses like many think he can, he could be fast-tracked like Garnacho and Mainoo have been recently.

Lacey therefore will be desperate to return soon and end the season on a high to prove he deserves to be on the tour this summer and mixing with the senior players regularly.
