Manchester United’s U18 side have been nothing short of phenomenal this season but suffered a defeat to Manchester City in the league.

The young Red Devils suffered their first loss of the season in the league against a superb Manchester City side. Their noisy neighbours foiled a 17-game unbeaten streak.

The U18 side have some fantastic talent coursing through their academy ranks. The likes of Ethan Wheatley, Bendito Mantato and Gabriele Biancheri have all been balling out for Adam Lawrence’s side.

Unfortunately, they were not up to scratch on Saturday. Here’s how the game unfolded.

Emile Heskey’s son, Jaden, captained City’s U18 side out on the day to a commanding victory in the derby.

It was a tough day for the young devils, as they suffered the same outcome the first-team squad did against the Cityzen’s.

City’s Farid Alfa-Ruprecht scored the opener after 19 minutes. A simple tap-in from a pull-back. That was the only goal of the half.

However, after half-time, Ashton Muir doubled Citys lead, which was then made 3 – 0 by Alfa-Ruprecht – who picked up his brace after 66 minutes.

Then it was a moment to forget for young Jaydan Kamason. A City corner deflected off the young defender to make it an embarrassing 4 – 0 scoreline.

Ethan Williams continued his fine form and struck late on which proved to only be a consolation – United were already dead in the water.

Manchester United still sit a whole 10 points ahead of their bitter rivals in the league, but the City win means that an invincible season is no longer possible.
