Who is Ethan Wheatley?

Wheatley made his debut for Manchester United’s under-18s team at the end of last season away at Blackburn Rovers, before dropping down to the under-16s and scoring a hat-trick days later.

He had previously marked himself out as a player with big potential by scoring a winning goal for United in the team’s Super Cup NI tour in 2021. He also impressed in the same competition this season, netting twice.

This season he has been a regular in the under-18s, but has featured mainly as a substitute behind top scorer Manni Norkett.

Wheatley has just one start, and has one goal to his name at 18s level so far. He is just getting started.

The teenager is a skilful striker, able to hold the ball up, and turn quickly inside the penalty box, and he is comfortable scoring with either foot.

Last year he expressed his excitement on social media at getting to meet Cristiano Ronaldo behind the scenes at Carrington.

Wheatley was also recently called into the England under-17 squad, featuring as a starter in a recent clash with Poland.
