Former Manchester United trialist Princewill Ehibhatiomhan has signed a professional contract with Southampton.

The MEN reported in November that Ehibhatiomhan was on trial with Manchester United. He featured in an under-17s cup game for Manchester United against Blackburn.

Player and club did not come to an agreement on a deal and the youngster was snapped up by Southampton.

He has now signed his first professional contract, expressing his excitement on Instagram.

Ehibhatiomhan signs with Southampton

Princewill Ehibhatiomhan had been part of Reading’s academy before leaving last summer to pursue other options.

He spent time on trial at Manchester United and Chelsea, eventually signing with Southampton.

The 17-year-old has scored two goals in two games for the Saints’ under-18s side, earning his deal. He has one goal in three games for England’s under-17 side.

Time will tell if Manchester United go onto regret not offering the talented young forward a deal. The club get a lot right at youth level, but no recruitment process is ever 100 per cent successful.

United did move to sign Cardiff youngster Gabriele Biancheri instead earlier this year. The Wales youth international recently scored on his Manchester United under-18s debut.
