Whilst Manchester United’s first team squad under Erik ten Hag struggles to excite, it is the club’s academy side that is excelling.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are just two players who have broken through the famed Manchester United youth academy with fans eager to see who will be the next cab off the rank.
United’s under-18 side took on FK Zalgiris in the UEFA Youth League, a competition that is famed for producing some world-class talent.
As well as this, they took on Nottingham Forest on Saturday whilst the under-21 side took on Newcastle United.

United’s under 18’s 5-2 FK Zalgiris – 24th October
United’s academy side beat FK Zalgiris with Wales under 19 forward Gabriele Biancheri making a strong case to be the Red Devils’ most exciting academy talent.
Despite Chido Obi Martin and Ethan Wheatley receiving all of the praise and excitement from the United fanbase, Biancheri is proving to be an exhilarating prospect.
The Red Devils should have extended their advantage further. Adam Lawrence’s side raced into a five-goal lead before the Lithuanian side scored two 90th-minute goals.
United’s UEFA Youth League tie will be played over two legs so the Red Devils will be hoping to close out the victory in the European competition.
Biancheri has netted 14 times for the Red Devils and the Welshman’s goalscoring prowess is proving to be hard to ignore.
Man United’s under-18s 6-0 vs Nottingham Forest – 26th of October
United’s under-18 side continued their fine form as they picked up a 6-0 victory over Nottingham Forest which included a hattrick from Chido Obi-Martin, who joined the Red Devils from Arsenal.
The Red Devils have been in blistering form during the current academy campaign and it took just under 20 seconds for Obi-Martin to strike.
He would add another two to his tally before goals from Amir Ibragimov, James Scanlon and a superb free-kick from Jim Thwaite meant it was a dominant display.
The Red Devils are currently top of the U18 Premier League table with seven wins out of seven.
Man United’s under-21s 2-0 vs Newcastle United – 26th October

Unlike United’s under-18 side, the under-21 side, managed by Travis Binnion, have struggled to perform at a consistently high level.
However, how United’s academy side is set up means that the most promising players from the under-21 squad join the Red Devils’ first team for training.
Despite this, the young side picked up a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United thanks to goals from Sam Maher and Ethan Ennis, who have both trained with the first team.
The win for the Red Devils means they are sixth in the Premier League 2, six points off the top of the division.
