Manchester United are expected to have a very busy summer transfer window both in terms of first-team business and also strengthening the academy.
It was a season of seconds for Manchester United’s U18 side, with final defeats in both the FA Youth Cup and the Premier League Cup, along with finishing second in the league.
Despite this being a success, United want to have the best academy in the country and that entails recruiting top talents.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe said he wanted to sign the next Kylian Mbappe, and that has seen plenty of youth recruitment with minimal success so far.
But now United are looking to sign one of Liverpool’s finest.

With the World Cup this summer, pre-season will have plenty of academy involvement🔮

Manchester United looking to sign Vincent Joseph
One of the best talents coming through Liverpool’s ranks right now is 16-year-old striker Vincent Joseph.
The teenager is arguably the finest number nine in the country at his age and his departure from Merseyside has been expected for months, with United leading the charge.
According to MUFC Academy on X, Joseph is an addition the club have been working on since March.
Talks are being held with his representatives and there is an increasing confidence within United that the deal will get done and he will represent United next season.
This would be a really exciting addition, combined with United pushing to sign David Eze after his exit from Man City.
These are two stellar additions to the U18 side for next season. Vincent in particular at 16 could form a partnership with JJ Gabriel which carries right through to the first team.
Bloomberg reports members of the Glazer family are considering selling up: What are your thoughts?
Do you have any faith this could be a full sale, or are we looking at a gradual share sell-off?
Joseph accidentally hints at Manchester United fandom
On Thursday, Joseph wished his brother Valentin a happy birthday on Instagram with a story and a picture of the two brothers in Manchester United kits.
As a Liverpool player, posting this – before deleting – isn’t a wise call for a player if they have intentions to stay at Anfield.
But the timing of this comes as a decision is expected imminently, given Joseph wasn’t on Liverpool’s list of 2026 scholars as revealed by the club website which all but confirms his departure.
All of this combined, two hints and talks reported, suggests that United are pretty close to a deal for Joseph, so don’t be shocked if this very quickly becomes reality in the next few weeks.
A very exciting pick up for United if it comes through.
