Jayden Ngwashi is one of Manchester United’s most exciting talents, but this season he has been derailed by injury.
Last summer, Manchester United moved swiftly to secure Jayden Ngwashi to a contract, emphasising how highly regarded he is at the club.
Then, Ruben Amorim drafted Ngwashi into first-team training back in September, which made it appear like 2025/26 would be his breakout season.
But injuries halted his rise, and now an update has emerged.

Jayden Ngwashi close to Manchester United return
Ngwashi is United’s defensive academy crown jewel, tipped to be the best prospect emerging right now.
But Ngwashi has been out injured for months, not playing a game in 2026 yet for United.
Now, the Manchester Evening News has claimed that Ngwashi is closing in on his return.
The 17-year-old has been out since the start of November, but his recovery from this injury is now in the final stages, which could soon see an exciting return.
United views Ngwashi as an elite prospect, having fended off interest from Italy last summer. Andy Mitten has admitted hearing how good Ngwashi is, with his reputation set to skyrocket upon return, as he could be in with a chance of getting included on the pre-season tour.

Ngwashi return is coming at the perfect time for Manchester United
If Ngwashi is set to make his comeback in the next few weeks, it will be very timely for United, considering there are some huge matches on the way.
He will return to an under-18 side which, under Darren Fletcher, is pursuing a potential quadruple.
United are the form side in the league right now, while being in the FA Youth Cup semi-final and also the Premier League Cup final on April 22nd.
If United wins the league, they will also have the chance to claim the national title by taking on the winners of the Southern league title.
Ngwashi returning for this would be key, giving him massive experience of winning silverware before hopefully transitioning into the under-21 side next season and potentially the first-team.
