Manchester United’s youngsters were in action over the weekend as the under-23s took on League Two side Morecambe.
The match at Carrington finished 1-1, although details were scarce, with United not even publicising the name of the team’s goalscorer.
It was left up to the players to post photos from the game, with promising French talent Hannibal Mejbri among those who featured.
Young defenders Reece Devine, Luca Ercolani and Harvey Neville also posted pictures on their Instagram pages from the match.
Dishon Bernard and Ethan Galbraith, the latter who was with the Europa League squad in Cologne, also featured.
The match was Morecambe’s first friendly of the summer and manager Derek Adams described it to the club website as a valuable workout.
This was the third match United’s under-23s have played over the past fortnight.
The young team lost 2-1 to Salford City’s first team, with Mark Helm scoring, before a 2-0 loss to Swindon Town in midweek.
Results are not really important, with it just important for the young players to get back to playing again after months on the sidelines, while for Luca Ercolani, these matches are his first in 12 months after suffering an ACL injury last August.
