Manchester United’s first-team weren’t the only team in action on Saturday, with the U21s also playing, taking on Tottenham at Leigh Sports Village.

Travis Binnion’s side have been excellent this season and the form continued on Saturday, thrashing Spurs 4-1 to remain top of the Premier League 2.

It was a very impressive performance from Manchester United which will have caught Ruben Amorim’s eye, as he surely evaluates the players for a role in the first team.

Gabriele Biancheri hat-trick upstages Diego Leon wondergoal

The goal Leon scored was excellent, as he picked up the ball in his own half, running through the entire Tottenham team before he scored.

This was a very special goal, but in the headlines were claimed instead by Leon’s teammate Gabriele Biancheri who scored three goals and provided an assist on a special day for the Wales U21 star.

Biancheri took his record this season to five goals and three games which is very impressive considering that he has played second fiddle to Chido Obi at times.

All three were top class number nine goals and all strikes differed slightly, with the first being the best, assisted by Shea Lacey.

This saw Lacey send a cross into the box which Biancheri controlled and half-volleyed into the back of the net.

Not only did he score, but Biancheri’s all-round game was impressive.

Gabriele Biancheri should be back on Ruben Amorim’s radar

Last season, Biancheri was the star of the U18 side before moving up to U21 upon his return from injury in early 2025 where he was also impressive.

This season started with Biancheri struggling for minutes, stuck behind Chido Obi, however, he has gotten opportunities lately and his talent is clear to see, and Ruben Amorim should be watching.

Biancheri would be a really good option to offer depth behind Matheus Cunha, with his IQ, pressing and creativity all underrated qualities in the face of his pure goalscoring ability.

Despite not being on the cards for his debut, this could and should be changing, as Biancheri remains one of the best United have.

The Welshman should be up there with Lacey in terms of getting a debut, otherwise he needs a loan in January.
