Former Manchester United academy prospect Tom Myles has signed for a new club.

Manchester United released nine players at the end of June, headlined by Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof.

There were six academy players let go, including goalkeeper Tom Myles, who had represented the club at under-18s and under-19s level.

Tom Myles signs for new club

Tom Myles has become the second player to secure a deal, from the eight released players currently looking for new clubs.

Myles has signed with National League side Rochdale, who had taken Jack Kingdon on loan earlier in 2025, and Sam Mather in 2024.

Speaking to club media, he commented: “I’m delighted to be here. It’s good to get it over the line and be a Rochdale player.

“The lads and the staff have been really welcoming. The training sessions have been really good and that’s been a big part of the decision for me to sign.

Myles had been part of Manchester United’s academy since he was six-years-old.

Myles featured for United in the FA Youth Cup, making the bench in the UEFA Youth League. He was part of the 2023/24 under-18s title winning side, keeping eight clean sheets in 18 games, with Elyh Harrison playing five matches.

Responses from former Manchester United teammates

Tom Myles wrote on Instagram: “Buzzing to be here, can’t wait for the season ahead.”

A number of Myles’ former teammates at Manchester United responded to his new contract to congratulate him on finding a new club.

There could be immediately familiar opposition for Myles this weekend, with Rochdale set to take on Manchester United’s under-21s in a friendly on Saturday August 2.
