15-year-old Manchester United wonderkid scores in 2-0 Junior Super Cup NI final victory to clinch glory

Manchester United have won the Junior SuperCupNI final, coming out victorious 2-0 against their Rangers counterparts.

The Super Cup NI is the modern version of the Milk Cup, with United regularly competing at the tournament since 1989.

This year’s tournament was opened by former United winger Keith Gillespie, who is also a former Northern Ireland international.

United sent an Under-18s squad and an Under-16s squad and it is the younger age group who won their final last night.

First half goals from 15-year-old Shea Lacey and defender Harrison Parker were enough to clinch glory for United’s young prospects.

United took the lead on 17 minutes as Lacey converted a penalty after he had been bundled over by Bailey Rice.

Then, Englishman Parker headed United’s second goal on 26 minutes as he connected with a Lacey corner.

The starting XI for the game was: William Murdock, Zach Giggs, Maision Halliday, Harrison Parker, Jayce Fitzgerald, Finley McAllister, Shea Lacey, Ethan Wheatley, Adam Berry, Victor Musa, Amir Ibragimov.

As well as scooping this crown, United have also walked away as Elite Challenge Winners from their time in Northern Ireland.

The game was shown on BBC Sport and you can see the highlights from the match here.

Last summer United sent an under-16s side which won every game, and their good record has continued a year later, offering cause for optimism at Old Trafford.

United played the likes of Surf Select, County Fermanagh and MK Dons en route to the final.
