Rasmus Hojlund excited for opportunity

Rasmus Hojlund claims he is ‘calm’ ahead of the huge fixture, attributing his confidence to the strong mindset in the entire Denmark squad.

He told Danish outlet Bold: “There has been an incredible hunger and a great focus in this gathering, which I have not seen before.

“It gives me a huge peace of mind.”

The current Napoli star added: “It’s a huge fight, and there will be nerves, but it’s about turning it into something positive instead.”

Hojlund can count on experienced teammate Christian Eriksen, who came off the bench to provide an assist in Denmark’s 4-0 victory over North Macedonia.

World Cup 2022 came too early for Rasmus Hojlund, so 2026 could be his first, if Denmark qualify. He does have tournament experience from Euro 2024.

Hojlund’s big matches

Rasmus Hojlund does have big match experience from his time at Manchester United.

He was a substitute in the 2024 FA Cup Final. He came off the bench in the 73rd minute to help close out a famous victory.

In 2025 he was a starter in the Europa League Final, a 1-0 defeat for the Red Devils.

This World Cup playoff is a little different, Hojlund has the pressure of his whole nation on his shoulders, and there is a lot at stake.

He will be desperate to win and play a part in his country’s success.
