Neymar issues four-word reply to Manchester United star Antony ahead of Brazil's World Cup opener

Brazil superstar Neymar has sent Antony a motivational message ahead of the Manchester United star potentially making his World Cup debut against Serbia.

Tite’s Selecao take on Dragan Stojkovic’s Serbia at the Lusail Stadium this evening.

The five-time world champions will be looking to lay down an early marker in the tournament, in the same manner that the likes of England, France and Spain did.

But Tite’s men will also be well aware of the shock upsets that Argentina and Germany were on the receiving end of.

Of United’s Brazil contingent, Casemiro is the only one to have played at a World Cup before. Fred was part of Brazil’s 2018 squad in Russia, but he didn’t make his bow, while Alex Telles and Antony are experiencing being part of a World Cup for the first time.

It’s highly likely that Barcelona’s summer signing Raphinha will be given the nod over Antony to start on the right of Tite’s forward line.

United’s number 21 missed the Reds last five games before heading to Qatar due to injury.

His last appearance came a month ago in the Europa League against Sheriff Tiraspol where he was heavily criticised by several former United players for pulling out his trademark 360 spin skill before his attempted pass to Casemiro went out for a goal kick.

The former Ajax forward could well be introduced off the bench against Serbia and make his 12th appearance for the senior Selecao side.

Ahead of tonight’s Group G clash, Antony posted on Instagram where he explained that playing in a World Cup has been his dream for years.

Paris Saint Germain star and Brazil’s talisman Neymar responded to Antony’s post with a four-word motivational message: “Excellent. Up on them.”
