In-form Manchester United star Marcus Rashford embarrassed Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold in England’s latest World Cup training session.

The 25-year-old will be oozing with confidence after scoring his first World Cup goal after netting within a minute of coming on against Iran on Monday.

United’s number ten scored with his third touch as Gareth Southgate’s side went on to beat Carlos Queiroz’s side 6-2 to kick off the World Cup in Qatar in style.

Rashford is United’s top scorer this season with eight goals across all competitions, and after enduring the most difficult campaign of his career last time out, the pacey and talented forward is back enjoying his football playing under Erik ten Hag.

With the Three Lions preparing for tomorrow’s second Group B game against the United of States, Rashford will be hoping that Southgate decides to tweak his starting line-up and hands him his first start of the 2022 tournament.

England’s number 11 was in red hot form in the Three Lions’ latest training session and Alexander-Arnold was on the receiving end of a dazzling piece of skill and lightening footwork by Rashford.

The Manchester United Academy graduate has already scored against Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool this season following the Red Devils 2-1 win against Jurgen Klopp’s side at Old Trafford back in August.

But in England’s latest training session, Rashford breezed past Alexander-Arnold by quickly chopping the ball from one foot to the other before Arsenal’s Ben White blocked Rashford’s powerful goal-bound effort.

While the piece of skill would have done little to bolster Alexander-Arnold’s chances of starting against the USA, Rashford will be hoping he caught Southgate’s eye.

In England’s run to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia four years ago, Rashford started one of the seven matches.
