Manchester United are strongly pursuing Cody Gakpo and the Netherlands international could arrive at the club as an award winner.
The Mirror report Erik ten Hag has already been in touch with Gakpo regarding a potential January deal.
A report from The Telegraph claims United are preparing to bid £43.1 million for the star, while Dutch outlet NOS reports PSV have a ready made list of replacements.
Now the forward is in contention for a FIFA Award owing to his performances at the World Cup.

Cody Gakpo nominated for FIFA Goal of the World Cup
Cody Gakpo’s goal in the Netherlands World Cup group match against Ecuador has been nominated for the FIFA Goal of the World Cup award.
The award is determined by a fan vote, with Brazil’s Richarlison having two goals nominated. Casemiro was particularly unlucky to miss out for his winning goal in the Selecao’s win over Switzerland.
Marcus Rashford’s free-kick goal for England against Wales was another which was especially unfortunate to miss out on the top 10 nominees.
Gakpo’s goal against Ecuador came from a powerful effort from the edge of the box after a lay off from Davy Klaassen.
The PSV ace netted three goals in five games at the tournament, including a header against Senegal to open their campaign.
