Jude Bellingham reacts to Marcus Rashford scoring first World Cup goal

Jude Bellingham has reacted to Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford scoring his first World Cup goal in England’s 6-2 win against Iran.

United’s number ten only needed three touches and 49 seconds to score his first goal at a major international tournament having come on as a second half substitute in yesterday’s Group B opener.

The 25-year-old, who has confidence coursing through his veins, showed great composure to slot the ball home with his weaker left foot after waltzing past an Iran defender.

England’s number 11 is back loving his football and Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag deserves massive credit for helping get the Manchester United Academy graduate back to the top of his game after a difficult 12-month period.

After missing a penalty in last summer’s European Championship final, Rashford missed the start of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Rashford, who has scored 101 goals for Manchester United, only managed five goals across all competitions last season – four of which came with him starting the game on the bench.

But in his first Three Lions game since missing a penalty against Italy last summer, Rashford took his goal tally for the 2022-23 campaign to nine goals for club and country.

As well as being congratulated by England and Manchester United legend David Beckham for scoring his first World Cup goal – Bellingham joined the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Harry Maguire and Jack Grealish in reacting to the star’s Instagram post.

Borussia Dortmund’s 19-year-old wonderkid, who himself scored his first World Cup goal after opening the scoring against Iran with a glancing header from a Luke Shaw cross, simply reacted with the fire emoji indicating he was seriously impressed with what he saw from Rashford when he came on.

Earlier this month, it was reported by The Mirror that Bellingham is United’s top target for the summer transfer window in 2023.

With the former Birmingham City youngster likely to leave the Bundesliga giants in the summer, the world-class midfielder who you run out of superlatives to describe will have added yet more millions to his ever-soaring transfer valuation following yesterday’s dominant World Cup debut.

Manchester United fans will be dreaming of seeing Bellingham and Rashford linking up at Old Trafford, but in order to stand any chance of winning the race to sign the most coveted player on the planet right now – Ten Hag’s side have to be able to offer Champions League football to the teenager.

However, Red Devils legend Rio Ferdinand believes that the twenty-time league champions will only sign Bellingham if the Rolls-Royce of a midfielder sees getting the Reds back to the fop of the footballing mountain as the right challenge for him.
