Bruno Fernandes has said he knew Joao Felix would have a good game against Switzerland while Portugal was singing the national anthem.

With Selecao boss Fernando Santos opting to start Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, much to the 37-year-old’s dismay, Portugal cruised to the World Cup quarter-finals after hammering the Swiss 6-1.

A hat-trick from Gonaclo Ramos and goals from Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro and Rafael Leao set up a last-eight clash with Morocco on Saturday.

While Felix didn’t get on the scoresheet, the 23-year-old did set up two of Ramos’ goals and he now has three goal involvements from as many World Cup games.

United’s number eight claimed he predicted Felix was going to produce a “great” performance while singing Portugal’s national anthem with a comment on Felix’s Instagram post.

The 28-year-old wrote: “In the anthem I knew you were going to do a great game.”

Felix made it clear after last night’s match that the way his country play allows him to shine in a way he cannot at Atletico Madrid.

It seems that Atletico CEO Gil Marin has accepted that the La Liga giants will consider offers for the superstar given his relationship and lack of game time under Diego Simeone.
