Rio Ferdinand reacts as Cristiano Ronaldo blanks Jamie Carragher live on air

If you were not watching the pre-game coverage of Manchester United v Liverpool on Sky Sports, the chances are you will see this clip on social media several times over the next 24 hours anyway.

Cristiano Ronaldo gatecrashed the pre-game Sky Sports chat, with Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher and host David Jones.

Ronaldo warmly greeted Neville and Keane, while more or less completely blanking Jamie Carragher with a minimal nod then moving swiftly past him.

The pundits laughed about Ronaldo snubbing Carragher shortly after the exchange, and former United star Rio Ferdinand also reacted with amusement on social media.

Ferdinand wrote on Twitter: “@Cristiano absolutely blanking @Carra23 there. Had you doing a 360 like the old days,” adding several laughing emojis.

Carragher has been critical of United’s move to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo ever since he was re-signed last year, and has stayed consistent with that view, even suggesting United need to sell the star, in the pre-game coverage.

Ronaldo is on the bench for tonight’s game at home to Liverpool, along with Anthony Martial, with Erik ten Hag selecting a front three of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga.

The star appeared in good spirits regardless – although had no time for Carragher, much to the amusement of co-host Neville.
