AS report Real Betis would seek around 20 milion Euros for Rodriguez, who has a contract at the club until 2024. This equates to £16.8 million.

Rodriguez made 29 starts for Betis in La Liga last season, helping the club finish in fifth place. He also made seven starts in the Europa League.

Rodriguez is more of an unknown quantity than Adrien Rabiot, who has won titles in France and Italy, and is a year older. He also arrives with less baggage, and could be a late bloomer, having only played two seasons in Europe in his career so far.

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo reported a month ago Rodriguez was a target for Chelsea in case they needed to replace Ngolo Kante.

It remains to be seen how serious United are for Rodriguez. At the moment he’s just another name to add to the mix, at a time where the club appear to be panicking.
